Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Fetters app ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Fetters is a contemplative app that guides users through an inquiry into the nature of self, based on the Buddhist framework of the Ten Fetters. The App includes:

• AI-guided inquiry conversations
• A personal journal feature
• An anonymous community messaging feature
• Educational content about the Ten Fetters

Age Requirements

The Community feature of this App is intended for users aged 17 and older. By using the Community feature, you confirm that you are at least 17 years of age.

Community Guidelines

When using the Community feature, you agree to:

• Be respectful and compassionate to fellow users
• Not post offensive, hateful, threatening, or harmful content
• Not post spam, advertisements, or promotional content
• Not harass, bully, or intimidate other users
• Not impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
• Not post content that violates any applicable laws

Content Moderation

To maintain a safe and respectful community, we:

• Filter content before posting to prevent objectionable material
• Review all user reports within 24 hours
• Remove content that violates these Terms
• Ban users who repeatedly violate community guidelines

Reporting and Blocking

You have the ability to:

• Report content: Flag any message that violates our community guidelines. We review all reports within 24 hours.
• Block users: Prevent specific users from appearing in your feed.
• Hide messages: Remove specific messages from your personal feed.
• Delete your own content: Immediately remove any message you have posted.

Not Medical or Therapeutic Advice

Important: The Fetters app is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

• The App is not therapy and should not be used as such
• The AI guide is not a licensed therapist or counselor
• If you experience psychological distress, please consult a qualified healthcare professional
• If you have a history of mental health challenges, consult with a professional before engaging deeply with contemplative practices

User Content

You retain ownership of any content you create within the App (journal entries, community messages). However, by posting content in the Community section, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display that content to other users.

Community messages automatically expire and are deleted after 24 hours.

Intellectual Property

The App and its original content (excluding user-generated content) are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the App.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Community feature at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the App or updating this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
